Double jeopardy has been a hot topic lately, and it’s no wonder why. After all, the concept of not being able to be tried twice for the same crime is an important one. So, did double jeopardy end? Well, not exactly. While there have been some changes to the law in recent years, double jeopardy is still alive and well in many countries around the world. In fact, it’s even enshrined in the US Constitution! So while you may hear people talking about double jeopardy ending or changing drastically, don’t believe everything you hear - it’s still very much alive and kicking!
How Did Double Jeopardy End? [Solved]
Libby had had enough. Instead of shooting Nick, she put a bullet through the Kandinsky. Nick spilled the beans about Matty’s whereabouts, but Lehman had already recorded his confession. Nick pulled a gun and shot Lehman in the shoulder. In the heat of the moment, he was about to fire again when Libby got her gun back and took him out for good.
Double jeopardy ended in 2018 when the Supreme Court ruled that states could prosecute someone for the same crime twice. So, if you were charged with a crime and acquitted, you can’t be tried again for it. That’s a relief!
